Day Tripping!

We took a day trip today as Greg was on a mission to find some "eatsa neatsa" - Jadernice - head sausage - Czech pork sausage.  His grandparents in Burleson County used to make this and he ate it as a kid.

He plotted out our route and our mission began around 9:30.  First stop was Shiner, Texas at Maeker's Sausage.  First mission accomplished!  Bought a few packs and then decided since we were in Shiner, to go to the brewery.  We we told they don't sell their beer, you have to buy a beer glass  for $5.00 and then they give you two tokens where you can then sample some of what they have and then get a 16 oz cup of your choice.  I tried the Holiday Cheer, which is a darker beer with peach and pecan and it was delicious!  Greg got the Orale, a Mexican style Cerveza.

Next stop was Halletsville at Janak's Country Market.  Another mission accomplished and walked out with more packs of the sausage.

I was starving after all that so we stopped and and had lunch at El Vaquero in Halletsville on the square.  It was delicious!

The next meat market we went to was Glen's Packing Company (Halletsville), but they did not have any there.  Mission fail!

Then, on to Schulenburg to City Market - that was another mission accomplished!

Another one in Schulenburg was Willie Joe's Processing where we again accomplished our mission!

The last stop was in Weimar at Kasper's Meat.  There Greg got not only the sausage, but bought some really nice beef ribs (we spent the most money there!).

At one of the places I also bought some Raspberry Vinegarette, which I like with pork and chicken.

This is a picture of our accomplished missions.  I really enjoyed the day, I told Greg we need to do this more often (maybe not on a meat run!).

Now, on to the next assignment.......
