Our European Anniversary Trip - Prague Continued

Our first scheduled "event" started on September 28 with a private guided tour.  Our guide met us at our apartment around 9:00 and off we went.  It was sprinkling/drizzling off and on but we were prepared with an umbrella and rain ponchos.  The beauty of Prague, or Praha as the locals call it, is amazing.  The architecture of the buildings, the ornate carvings, spires, and towers - you can literally stand there with your mouth hanging open!  Even the streets are cobble stone, no paved roads in this city!  Some highlights included Old Towne Square, the Astronomical Clock which dates back to 1410 and actually works, the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the Jewish Quarter, and more.

Along the way we stopped at this coffee shop to have coffee and pastries.  The European coffee is way too strong for me, even the Americano version so I could only drink maybe 1/2 cup.  The pastries were amazing.

After the tour ended our guide walked us to a restaurant she was going to take us to but we ran out of time so we stopped in an had a late lunch/early supper.

Greg ordered the pork knee or pork knuckle and I had the roast pork.  Both were delicious.  My sides included potato and bread dumplings and Greg's was with bread and cabbage salad which tastes a lot like sauerkraut to me.  The beer we drank most often in Prague was the Pilsner Urquell.

SO good!

The next day (September 29) we went back to the Charles Bridge as a boat tour of the Vltava River was included in the private tour but we ran out of time, so our guide gave us our tickets to use another time.

The following day (September 30) we were to pick up our car rental as we were going to be leaving on October 1 to go to Austria.  The  Budget rental was located in the rail station which was about a 20 minute walk from our apartment.  We found the place and that is where the saga continues....
