Our European Anniversary Trip - My Grandfather's Birthplace

My grandfather was born in the Czech Republic (back then Czechoslovakia).  I have his birth certificate naming his birth place so when we decided to go to Prague, I researched to see how far it was from there.  Only about an hour and a half so there was no way I was going to be that close and not go.

The drive there was beautiful - rolling hills and green countryside.  When we arrived, I took a photo of the sign.  There was a couple, about our age, across the road working in their garden.  Greg told me to go talk to them and at first I said no, but then I walked up and asked if they spoke English.  The guy shook his head no.

We drove in to the town, which is very small, about 300 residents.  The buildings were beautiful!

The red through the sign means you are leaving that town

What a very special memory for me to see where my grandfather had been born.

Note:  My grandmother (Tracy Scasta Novak) was born in Czechoslovakia also, but we never knew her as she passed away the year before my parents got married.
